Guangxi (广西; Guǎngxī) is a relatively poor but highly scenic area in southern China. Technically it is known as the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, because of its large Zhuang minority population.
The province is located in Southwest China west of Guangdong Province (Canton) and also contains a significant coastline on the South China Sea, (Beibu Gulf). It shares many characteristics of its equally poorer sister to the north Guizhou due to its mainly rural nature and large minority populations. and The xi and dong suffixes mean west and east, respectively in the Chinese language.

- Yangshuo (阳朔) — famous scenic town with karst mountains, accessible from Guilin
Guangxi is linguistically diverse. Standard Mandarin is spoken by nearly all, but "baihua", a dialect of Cantonese, also known in pinyin Chinese as "Yueyu" is spoken as the local native language in parts of eastern Guangxi. Some of the many minority groups still speak their own tongues as well.
One of Guanxi's more famous dishes is a hotpot based on dog.
In Guangxi rice noodles are popular. The most famous and delicious rice noodle dish is Guilin rice noodles 桂林米粉 (Guilin MiFen). You find it all over the province. Nanning's LaoYouFen 老友粉 is a spicy rice noodle soup with pork, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles and pepper. LuoSeFen is a spicy soup * from Liuzhou. The latter soup is based on snails but the snails are not served as an ingredient of the dish.
LiQuan beer is brewed in Guilin. It's not very strong.
There is a special dry fruit called LuoHanGuo, it comes from Guilin. People boil it in water to make a tasty sweet drink. It's sold at markets, at tea shops or other stores.
In Bama you can find a drink made from hemp seeds.
In supermarkets in Nanning you can find vietnamese coffee beans.
People in Guangxi like drinking soy milk (DouJiang) in the morning, you can find it on the road side, at markets or at shops selling dumplings.
There is a consulate in Nanning so you can pick up a visa there. Tickets for these trips are on sale in Yangshuo.
There is a train from Nanning to Kunming through impressive mountain scenery.
